The Human Desire
A DOCUMENTARY SHORT ABOUT THE HOPE, hEARTACHE, AND MANY FACES OF INFERTILITY
Premieres Summer 2018 | Super 35 Cinema 4K
It is a rollercoaster of physical and emotional tidal waves that we ride in a relentless four week rhythm. The tests and the shots. The pills and impatience. The exams and expectation and the utter devastation when you have to do it all again. Shroud in shame and an all consuming sense of inadequacy, infertility is rarely spoken about and too often endured in silence. And yet the sense of isolation that we feel belies just how common the experience is: 1 in 8 couples struggle with infertility.
In an emotional and informative documentary short, we will humanize the many diverse faces who have struggled to get pregnant or sustain a pregnancy. Through their voices we will write a common chorus of the secrets we share, the shame we struggle with, and the hope that we hold on to. Written and directed by a woman who knows intimately the gut wrenching pain of wanting what you may never be able to have, this short film strives to open an honest conversation about the human desire to see a reflection of one’s self in the next generation.
