Conscious Coffees is among the oldest organic coffee roasters in Colorado. Twenty years into its growth, the depth of its global impact and integrity of its social and environmental values were values were being watered down by a younger generation of craft roasters and fair trade labels.
Preparing the company to transition from its founders to new leadership, we were brought on to rebrand the company to compete in a modern market.
We collaborated with a local brand strategist to define a creative strategy that would transition the brand to appeal to a wider market without alienating a loyal customer base.
With the definition of a new brand platform, we created a bold new visual identity for Conscious Coffees that reflected the company’s unique commitment to humanity at every part of the chain - from growing and sourcing through roasting and brewing. We wove the contagious personalities of the founders which were critical to the brand legacy into a modern aesthetic that could compete in a younger and more crowded marketplace.
While online retail had never been a primary revenue stream for the company, we built a clean e-commerce store that would open up new customer channels while conveying the company’s story and values. This simple platform has served as a tool through which they test messaging, engage consumers, and launch new products.
The most significant aspect of our collaboration came in the form of the company’s coffee packaging. We balanced the complexity of maintaining brand character while working within the confines of sustainable packing materials. The final leveraged cutting edge compostable materials, aligned closely with the company’s environmental values, and maintained the integrity of a fresh and high quality product.
