Reach Out and Read Colorado gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. The nonprofit trains doctors and nurses to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud and to give books to children at pediatric checkups from 6 months to 5 years of age with a special focus on children growing up in poverty. By building on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers, Reach Out and Read Colorado helps families and communities encourage early literacy skills so children enter school prepared for success.

One Thousand Design has worked with Reach Out and Read to produce promotional films, capture stunning photography focusing on program impact, and create a variety of design materials – annual reports, posters, signage, sticker sets and more – all which have helped solidify the Colorado chapter’s brand and reputability. Working to weave their story into a singular universal narrative about the captivating appeal of books, we traveled to their program sites to produce a documentary that told the brand story in a visual manner.
